  • Book of The Week - Chicken Sunday by Patricia Polacco (author & illustrator) Russia (map) and vocabulary
  • Phonics/Reading/Writing - Wilson Unit 5 - Long & short vowels (auditory discrimination), read decodable reader, My Pal Bo, with long vowel, dictation of words and sentences, make sentences, find and write trick words, readers
    Trick Words (practice at home with cards) - by, my
    Continue to drill these at home and after they can read them, learn to spell them.
  • Math - Make April calendar; Tangrams - designs, flip, turn, slide; use number lines; measure length and estimation
  • Centers - Decodable reader (My Pal Bo),  read words on plastic eggs (word families), auditory discrimination activity with eggs, Jelly bean measuring; Pysanky egg design/painting
  • New Habit -Fortitude (April)

  • Oviparous Animals (animals that hatch from eggs); Homework - Tuesday - find a picture of an oviparous animal and we will use this picture on Wednesday for centers.
  • Phonics/Reading/Writing - Wilson Unit 5 -Sentence structure, sentence dictation, narrative fiction vs. informational books. Digraphs (sh, ch, th, wh, ck)
    Morning Writing -March book - practice spelling & reading trick words.
    Trick Words (practice at home with cards) - of, have, where
    Continue to drill these at home and after they can read them, learn to spell them.
  • Math - ABBC patterns; divide by sharing/comparing numbers; addition using cards
  • Centers - Trick Words Hunt and sentences; Egg watercolor painting with oviparous picture from homework; Decodable reader "Spin to Win"; War card game (math)

  • Phonics/Reading/Writing - Begin Wilson Unit 5 -Sentence structure, sentence dictation, narrative fiction vs. informational books.
    Morning Writing -March book - practice spelling & reading trick words.

  • Math - Cylinders,cube, cone, sphere; Identify money, count by 1's, 5's, 10's; adding with manipulatives

  • Book of The Week -  Author study - Ezra Jack Keats
  • Phonics/Reading/Writing - Wilson Unit 4 (last week of unit 4) - Digraphs - 2 consonants make 1 sound (th, sh, ch, ck, wh). Long/short vowels. Review concept this week is -ck is used after a short vowel. Make words and sentences with sounds/letters learned thus far.  Read in decodable readers, dictation and creative writing. 
    Morning Writing -March book - practice spelling & reading trick words.

  • Math -Nickels and counting by 5's, counting nickels and it's value; identify money; patterns (AB, ABB, ABC)
