September 29-Oct 2



One of my favorite things all year is when the children share their obedience stories when they are the happy helper.  We all learn so much and honestly the kids learn more when their friend shares than when I share.  Last week, we had stories about Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego, Moses and Abraham (Isaac).
This Week:
Happy Helpers (obedience bible story) - Monday - Mary Grace; Tuesday - Phoebe; Wednesday - Sawyer
Tuesday - 6th grade general store - (optional bring money) 
Wednesday, Oct, 1st - Dressy Enrichment and pictures - Remember to order online or send in forms before or on Wednesday.
Thursday - Oct. 2nd -  Service project - Cami Summers, Judith McNeeley - Noon carpool

Next Week:
I will be out of town next weekend through Monday.  Mrs. Tara Rose will sub for me on Monday.  I doubt that I will have time to update the blog before next Tuesday afternoon.  If you have a question or concern, please email or text me.

What We Will Learn This Week:
  • Spiders - Begin learning Day 6 of creation. We will spend 3 weeks on Day 6.
  • Book of The Week - The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle
  • Phonics/Reading/Writing - Trick Words - brown, pink; Letters Rr,Ee; Alliteration, Journals, Handwriting Sheet, Making Words & Sentences
  • Math - Identify ordinal positions, writing numbers 1-5 with correct formation, sequencing daily events, identify shapes, Identify missing numbers 1-30; counting to 100; counting by 10's; place value,
  • Centers -  Letter hunt, Make "If I were a spider" book, fine motor activities, reading groups, journal writing
  • Habit - obedience

Reading/Writing - Letters c, o.  Activities include: skywriting, writing upper & lower case letters learned thus far and name (first & last) with correct formation, magnetic boards, phonemic awareness, vowels, syllables, making words & sentences.
Trick (Sight) Words - Red, Yellow (learn and practice at home and school; cards sent home Monday)
Math- Sorting, graphing, story problems. Use numbers 1-12 for place value, more/less, even/odd, writing with correct formation and order.  Make September calendar.
Centers - Day 4 of our creation book to paint moon, stars, sun; Make constellation book; Journal writing; Original Works of Art
Extras - Solar snacks (smores on Tuesdays) and science experiment with paper towels and dye.

September 1-4


 Short blog and short week!


Last week, we had a fun time on our nature walk/scavenger hunt with the other pre-first classes!
You will receive a September calendar in your child's blue folder tomorrow (Tuesday) as a reminder of all things happening during this new month.

Reading/Writing - Vowels u & i (skywriting, writing letters correct formation, making words, making sentences, drills with all letters learned, abc order, phonemic awareness activities, journals, creative writing)
Math - Making patterns, writing numbers to 12, recognizing numbers to 30, counting to 100, place value, more/less, clock - numbers and time to hour
Centers - Leaf rubbings, watercolor for creation book, sorting seeds, estimation journals, planting grass, poem)
