What We Will Learn This Week:
  • Bible - Psalm 1390:13-14 & Jesus Storybook Bible
  • Book of The Week - Blossom Comes Home by James Herriott
  • Phonics/Reading/Writing - This is the last week of our phonics book! Reading trick words quickly and in sentences; read real and nonsense words; read sentences and readers; write words and sentences; write upper/lower case letters quickly (important in writing fluency); long vowels and reading words with long vowels
Trick Words (practice at home with cards) - review all - no new ones
Continue to drill these at home and after they can read them, learn to spell them.  Reading sight/trick words increases reading fluency dramatically.  So I am going to start timing the kids read the list of trick words and have them try to beat their time each week.  You can do this at home as well.  If they don't know the word immediately, then they need to work on it.
  • Math -  cone & 3 dimensional shapes, time to hour and half, more/adding, charts/surveys
  • Centers - Draw cow with template (use pastels and watercolor); writing sentences about farm field trip; write farm words in ABC order, puzzles; games; individual assessments
  • Habit -Fortitude
