- Phonics/Reading/Writing - This is the last week of our phonics book! Reading trick words quickly and in sentences; read real and nonsense words; read sentences and readers; write words and sentences; write upper/lower case letters quickly (important in writing fluency); long vowels and reading words with long vowelsTrick Words (practice at home with cards) - review all - no new onesContinue to drill these at home and after they can read them, learn to spell them. Reading sight/trick words increases reading fluency dramatically. So I am going to start timing the kids read the list of trick words and have them try to beat their time each week. You can do this at home as well. If they don't know the word immediately, then they need to work on it.
